Michael Saylor’s Strategy Increases Bitcoin Holdings to Record 640,250 BTC
Michael Saylor’s Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) has bought another 220 Bitcoin worth $27.2 million as the cryptocurrency hit an all-time high.
The purchase, according to Saylor, came at an average price of $123,561 per BTC, when the price was as high as $126,200 before falling sharply to $107,000 in Friday’s “flash crash.”
After the latest purchase, Strategy’s total holdings stand at 640,250 BTC, bought for about $47.38 billion at an average price of $74,000 per coin.
“No Tariffs on Bitcoin”
During the market crash, which many attributed to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of new tariffs on China, Saylor wrote on X:
“No Tariffs on Bitcoin.”
His post was a symbolic response to the market, which lost almost $20,000 in a day.
Metrics and profitability
Strategy reported that its BTC Yield (a measure of the change in the ratio of the number of Bitcoins to the company’s diluted shares) has increased by 25.9% since the beginning of the year.
This is the company’s second purchase in a month: Strategy bought 196 BTC in late September, but refrained from buying in early October.
MSTR Shares Drop
Despite the new purchase, Strategy (MSTR) shares continued to decline, from $360 to $309 in a week, according to TradingView data.
From a July peak of $456, quotes have fallen 33%, but still remain 63% higher than a year ago – similar to the dynamics of Bitcoin itself, which has risen by 84%.
Securitization of Bitcoin
The company emphasized that it continues to “securitize BTC” through market-based equity offerings, including Series A Perpetual Strife (STRF) and Series A Perpetual Strike (STRK), creating new instruments for institutional investors.
However, part of the market believes that MSTR has begun to lag behind the Bitcoin ETF.
“As soon as it becomes possible to buy Bitcoin ETN in the UK – I will sell all my MSTR. And I am not alone,” wrote one investor.
