Concerns have arisen as approximately $48 million in cryptocurrency has been transferred from wallets linked to the Turkish exchange BtcTurk, sparking fears of a potential security breach.
The significant transfers involved various digital assets including ether (ETH), Avalanche’s AVAX (AVAX), Arbitrum’s ARB (ARB), Base (BASE), Optimism’s OP (OP), Mantle (MANTLE), and Polygon’s MATIC (MATIC), consolidating most funds into two main recipient addresses.
Blockchain monitoring platform Cyvers detected the unusual activity and raised alerts indicating a potential targeted attack rather than regular operational transactions.
Cyvers has engaged with BtcTurk on the matter, with the exchange swiftly implementing precautionary measures by suspending deposits and withdrawals while investigating the situation further.
